Appendix ~ technical information about this site

The index:
For those who prefer to dip here and there rather than read the chronicle in full the index on the right hand side of the page which shows subject 'labels' may be helpful.  The number to the right of each subject indicates the number of articles that mention that topic.  If you click on any one of these links all the articles that have that label will be shown on the screen in a group, one above the other.  To return to the whole chronicle go to 'Blog Archive' in the right hand column and click on '2010'.

There are a number of links contained within most articles.  Some of these are more obvious than others.  If you move your mouse pointer over the text they will show up as underlined text in a different colour. To go to these reference articles simply click on this text.  To return to my chronicle take your mouse pointer to the top left hand corner of your screen and click on the left-pointing arrow of your browser button.

The most commonly referred to websites:
Most of the information links are to three internet sources: Wikipedia, the BBC, and the New York Times.  I did include quite a few links to the Amazon sites, where I refered to books that may be useful or where book reviewers provide additional insight but these have mostly been removed as I am no longer part of their 'affiliate' programme.

Enlarging the text size:
For those of you who find the print size on the screen rather smaller than is comfortable, you may wish to enlarge the text.  This is simple for anyone who uses a mouse which has a wheel on the top: simply hold down the 'Ctrl' button on your keyboard and roll the mouse wheel forward, and everything magically enlarges!
